A new take on the 12 Months

The dance performance “The Tale of the 12 Months” by VIRSKY – is a masterful adaptation of the famous fairy tale by Czech writer Božena Němcová. This is a unique project in which for the first time on one stage classical Ukrainian dance, contemporary choreography, the magic of fairy-tale images, and innovative stage technologies are combined.

The creators of the production somewhat rethought and modernized the plot, endowing each of the 12 Months with its own character and a unique choreographic language. The evil stepmother and her daughter also change under the influence of love and courage of the delicate and tender girl Marichka, the main heroine of the performance. How will she manage? You will find out if you watch the performance “The Tale of the 12 Months”.

New Year’s magic by VIRSKY

Due to numerous viewers’ requests, special performances of the updated show “The Tale of the 12 Months” will take place at the end of 2026. The production uses new stage solutions and includes more music and dance numbers. Because of this, the performance duration has also increased – to 1.5 hours of genuine wonder, warmth, and magic. At the same time, some things remain unchanged in the show “The Tale of the 12 Months”, namely:

• the main actors – are artists of the National Honored Academic Dance Ensemble of Ukraine named after Pavlo Virsky;
• the fantastic music specially composed for the show by the talented composer Dmytro Saratsky. In his compositions, he combined folk instruments and national motifs;
• amazing scenography. A large LED- screen is installed on the stage, where the original animation for the performance will be broadcast. Light shows and special effects will create the effect of being in a magical forest;
• detailed costumes. They combine ethnic motifs with fairy-tale elements.

The performance “The Tale of the 12 Months” by VIRSKY proves that Ukrainian dance art can rethink any plot and can transport the viewer into a real New Year’s fairy tale. Give yourself and your children a real New Year’s miracle!
